AirFunk Sunglasses: A Vision Beyond Sound by Maxime dB
What inspired the idea of creating the AirFunk sunglasses?
AirFunk has always been about more than just music, it’s a whole aesthetic, a lifestyle! I wanted to create something tangible that represents our sonic identity and culture, beyond records and parties. Sunglasses felt like the perfect accessory: stylish, timeless, and deeply connected to club culture.
Also, as a DJ and producer, my world is shaped by movement—between cities, dancefloors, and the in-between moments of introspection. I wanted to create something that wasn’t just an accessory but an extension of that rhythm. That’s how the AirFunk Sunglasses were born: designed for travel, meditation, and long nights that turn into sunrises.

Can you tell us about the design process and the choice of materials?
To bring this vision to life and ensure the frames felt high-quality while keeping that fun, vintage edge, I teamed up with Nessy Khem, an incredible eyewear designer whose creative approach perfectly aligns with the AirFunk universe. Every detail, from the shape to the branding, was carefully considered to match our DNA. They are made in Italy with premium materials and high-quality craftsmanship.

What’s the story behind them?
We crafted two exclusive colors, CYAN and LILA with only 50 numbered shades per color, each reflecting a different mood: one for energy and clarity, the other for mystery and reflection. The colors are inspired by clouds and the atmosphere, creating a dreamy, elevated feel. Just like music can transport you somewhere else, these sunglasses are meant to add a little fantasy to your everyday look.

How do you imagine people styling and wearing these sunglasses?
They’re made to be versatile, whether you’re dressed up or keeping it casual, they add a unique touch. We see them on DJs, ravers, skaters, and anyone who like to stand out effortlessly.

What’s next for AirFunk in terms of fashion and design?
We’re always looking for ways to push the AirFunk aesthetic further. Right now, our focus is on music, but we’re open to more collaborations in fashion or even unexpected territories. As long as it feels fresh, fun, and aligned with our vision, we’re ready to explore.
